On the series: A year after hurricane Katrina, photographing the Gulfport-Biloxi Area. My husband was born in New Orleans and still had relatives there. He had also grown up for a time in Gulfport. All his relatives in NOLA were profoundly affected by Katrina and would be picking up the pieces for years to come. When we passed through Gulfport, fifteen months after Katrina, the devastation was such that my husband was unable to recognize his childhood neighborhood. It had been obliterated.
