The Art - Photography

Dead Horse Ranch State Park

My parents lived for a while in Arizona, my mother up in Sedona and Cottonwood, and my father down in Phoenix. My mother would sometimes paint watercolors at Dead Horse Ranch State Park, which was one of her favorite places. The muted November light was beautiful. In color, straight out of camera, the scenery had the quality of a theater set. The chaos of the flora was such, that in black and white I was reminded of Cocteau's "Beauty and the Beast", the fluff from the cottonwoods adding a soft focus haziness that also sparkled with light throughout the scene.
