Will Pennsylvania be where it normally is come Monday?

Oh goodness. Pat Robertson has gone and warned voters of Dover, Pennsylvania that since they voted out a school board that supported intelligent design they’re likely to be struck by disaster.

“I’d like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don’t turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city…and don’t wonder why He hasn’t helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I’m not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that’s the case, don’t ask for His help because he might not be there,” he said.

Never mind your personal feelings concerning Bill Gates, but I wonder if he believes in evolution or intelligent design? Probably evolution. And he has more money than Pat Robertson and he’s not rotting in the grave yet and…

Oh wait. On a whim I Googled “Bill Gates” and evolution and only got the evolution of computer soft and hardware and so I Googled “Bill Gates” and “intelligent design” and find it reported that the Gates Foundation has pledged over 9 million dollars in 10 years to the Discovery Institute , the very same institute that is pushing Intelligent Design upon us.

Oh, well never mind me.

Actually, Gates is funding the Discovery Institute’s Cascadia Project, the aim of which is to improve transporation in the northwest. But he’s also paying a big hunk of the salary of the institute’s founder and director, Bruce Chapman.

But….

Horseass.org covered back in August why Gates’ relationship to Discovery is extermely relevant to their prime agenda, which is, in 20 years, “to see intelligent design theory as the dominant perspective in science” and also “to see design theory permeate our religious, cultural, moral and political life. “

    Hi Idyll,

Oh my…so if something happens in Dover, PA then I will hope Pat Robertson responsible.

Sure hope all is well there.

I’m glad you didn’t get into the Gates/Abramoff connection, or Gates’ sellout of gays and lesbians. It’s enough that he was born rich and stayed that way by learning early on how to steal. I’m sure his parents are proud.

    Nightbird–I was thinking the same.

Jay–Now I’m wondering what it must feel like to be the parents of a Bill Gates.

I’m glad to see that Mr. Gates is spending his money on something worthwhile.

(And you said I’d never post!)

Ha. Did I say you’d never post? I don’t recollect that.

My guess is that Noah’s Ark will finally make land, and those non-extinct dinosaurs that Noah corralled will disembark and Godzilla-stomp Dover as if it were a model of Tokyo.
