I’m still trying to decide if I want to be (more) in the system by applying for a passport, just to have the receipt on me that may or may not be required when passing through the border back into the U.S. down there.
I have already been informed that I have 30 days in which to report to the DMV and get my driver’s license and license plates changed over and I don’t even know what state I’m going to be residing in yet. Sigh.
I always wondered what it would be like to live in a fascist dictatorship.
Remember when we were kids, the Duck and Cover drills? The backyard barbecues hosting the newest Bomb Shelter Dig on the block? REDS?

But, I’m getting better at it.
Oops, little glitch there; pre-mature postulation. I was gonna say, I like your Real ID and I want one. You know, to flash the border guards with. lol.
The “Iron Curtain” was a very powerful symbol to grow up with as a child, however difficult it was to pin down the imagery. Little kids hear something like that and they tend to think literally. I can remember attempting to envision an iron curtain. There were enough photos of fences and walls that I was aware what it was but I still had in my head a ghostly iron curtain mingling, that stretched up to the heavens.
