{"id":1493,"date":"2007-07-27T09:31:14","date_gmt":"2007-07-27T13:31:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idyllopuspress.com\/meanwhile\/?p=1493"},"modified":"2014-03-08T06:38:00","modified_gmt":"2014-03-08T10:38:00","slug":"not-what-i-was-expecting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/idyllopuspress.com\/meanwhile\/1493\/not-what-i-was-expecting\/","title":{"rendered":"Not what I was expecting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m experiencing some unfortunate luck lately with ordering over the internet.<\/p>\n<p>I ordered, from Usedbooks 123, via Abebooks, &#8220;Annie&#8217;s Coming Out&#8221;, written by  <a href=\"http:\/\/home.vicnet.net.au\/~dealcc\/Anne2.htm\">Anne McDonald and Rosemary Crossley<\/a>, an account of Anne&#8217;s growing up in an institution and how she managed to get out.<\/p>\n<p>The order came in yesterday.  I open the baby blue plastic package and what&#8217;s inside?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How to Invest Your Money And Profit From Inflation&#8221; by Morton Shulman, 1979<\/p>\n<p>AND<\/p>\n<p>a free item!  A 25 cent Harlequin romance novel.  &#8220;Letter From Bronze Mountain&#8221; by Rosemary Carter.  The back cover reads, &#8220;Can you love and hate at the same time?!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You can&#8217;t begin to imagine my enthusiasm.<\/p>\n<p>I wrote back Usedbooks 123 asking where&#8217;s what I ordered, but I figure I&#8217;m screwed out of that $9.00 of mine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong>  Usedbooks 123 first wanted me to return to them the book, saying they&#8217;d refund me my money in full, or if I kept it they&#8217;d  refund a percentage.  I complained saying how I didn&#8217;t see how it was worth their while, or mine, for me to return the book as it is valueless, and I was concerned they may not refund my money as they promised and I&#8217;d be out more money.
