Never mind that  torture does not work, torture is torture and either you condone it or you don&#8217;t.  It&#8217;s really that simple.<\/p>\n<p>Friday morning I  followed a Fox News link in the news just for the hell of it and was greeted with the happy smiling (&#8220;Trust me!&#8221;) picture of blue-eyed, white-blond-haired <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/bigstory\/index.html\">John Gibson<\/a>, set off against a background of bright blue, dressed in a bright blue shirt (they said all that blue would play up the bluesy eyes I assume) and his &#8220;My Word&#8221; piece which was &#8220;Interrogation Techniques U.S. Uses Are Not Torture.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>John Gibson, making light of induced hypothermia and waterboarding, argues that Human Rights Watch &#8220;and others&#8221; have erroneously declared the interrogation techniques used by the U.S. to be torture, but they aren&#8217;t, and that, by the way, non-torture happens to work!<\/p>\n<p>So John Gibson agrees you don&#8217;t have to torture to get information because not using torture works perfectly well.<\/p>\n<p>Whatta world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In response to the torture uproar, many of the blog post titles I&#8217;ve seen about it lately have been down the order of, &#8220;Torture does not work!&#8221; which I thought was kind of sad and beside the point, because I&#8217;ve considered whether torture works or not to not be the issue.
