I was trying to think of how to put into words what I see when looking at this digital painting and realized I don’t know what words to use. I have a feeling, when looking at it, but don’t know how to describe the feeling. She reminds me of a child who would now be about 20 or 21 years old, someone that was difficult when she was younger, and I suspect may have a difficult time as she gets older. I think sometimes the act of looking is coupled with feeling, and that bypasses the articulating part of me, so that it is an experience but not one I find easy to describe. Which doesn’t tell you much about what I feel about looking at this particular image but may tell you something about what it is like for me to look, to see.

Interesting. I think viewing for many people is steeped in numerous wordless associations, many of which pass even largely unnoticed, so ephemeral.

I like this very much — especially the careful composition of merging lines (the wall, the body) with shadows (the face).
