The man to the left of me wore expensive spectator styled shoes (in brown) with expensive socks. His pants and shirt were probably expensive as well, but it was the delicate and regal choice of socks with the prestigious shoes that made for quintessential sartorial effect. I wanted to take a photo of his shoes and socks but he seemed a little nervous with my taking photos of the walls and chairs, as if he worried I’d make sly use of this camera and surreptitiously turn it on him. Then I looked behind and saw one of the technicians with her iPhone out facing him and I wondered if she was taking photos. In the meanwhile, out in the waiting room, was my greasy-haired preteen son in his flip-flops and nylon Old Navy shorts.
