Because I have a blog I can complain about the Eureka Altima

The Eureka Altima 2971 BVZ sucks as a vacuum and doesn’t make for good home ec sculpture either. It began giving us trouble from the beginning. And tonight it literally burned itself out. We’ve had it I think around two months and the belt first had to be replaced and then tonight we’ve no idea what happened but the place filled with a terrible stench as the vacuum suddenly broke and bounced around and melted completely some little plastic part on the bottom that holds the brush in place. I read reviews that either gush about how wonderful it is or complain that it broke within two months time. Ours was from the latter family and so it’s on its way to join its sibs in America’s great bulging landfills.

Too bad I didn’t get a chance to finish vacuuming before it busted.

    Oh Idyll,

    Your house sounds like our house. I swear to you the same thing happened, well a little different version. We had an Eureka, and it burned itself out one day right in the middle of cleaning. I couldn’t believe it. It was older than yours but not old enough to burn itself out. My husband was surprised when he came home and found me blogging instead of cleaning. I told him what happened…what could he say.

    So then, I had to go on a search for a new vacuum. I ended up buying the Shark Roadmaster. It is a powerful little vacuum but there is no bag, so you have to empty the dust and clean the filter after each vacuum.

    We just got a Bissell. Because it’s blue. I’ve decided vacuums are a matter of luck. So we went with blue because H.o.p. wanted blue and the Bissell was blue. This one sucks right out of the box.
