Zurama dressing room

While working on cleaning, sorting, cleaning last night, came upon a polaroid, just a few years shy of being 20 years old,of a painting I did of a theater dressing room. Very faded. I brought out the colors a bit. Grainy.

Very loosely pictured are Irv Wardlow (left), Lane Whittemore, Ross Miekle (far background) and George Nikas (holding coffee).

Click on it for larger view. The painting was about 3 by 4.5 feet I think.

    How delightful….there I am!
It is 32″x48″ and I own it. It is one of my treasures and sits behind me, while I am at the computer.
You don’t want it back, do you? Although, parting with it would cause a heart break….for you…I would.
Man, was I ever that young?
A wonderful run was had by all, when the play premiered at Sever Stages….low these many years ago.
    Needed a smile….thanx for that!

No, I don’t want it back!

It was both a good run and a terribly unfortunate run. Irv burning his hands right before opening night. And, so sad, as you will remember, the death of Ross’ child. I don’t know how he managed it. But he did and was wonderful.

You guys made a great team. A lot of talent. The script was strenuous and you worked your asses off for it, each of you.

Well, yes, there was tragedy…didn’t want to bring it up….
    The Balinese puppets were AWESOME!
I wish I could have kept mine!
I forgot about Irv burning his hands….how exactly did that happen? Do you remember?

Hey, I wish I could have kept the puppets I made! But our apartment was too small. Later I learned they’d been sold in an auction. If I’d known I would have purchased them because we were living in a larger place by then.

If I remember correctly, Irv fell asleep while a candle was left burning and woke up to the fire starting and put it out with his hands.
