Not like selling your everyday used car

It fell to Marty’s responsibility to purchase the specialized used van which served his dad for around a year before dying of ALS back in December. Marty got it for his dad here and drove it across the state to the home of his mom and dad.

It fell to Marty’s responsibility to sell the van. He went across the state and got it and drove it back. He informed the ALS society the van was up for sale.

Selling the van is not like selling your everyday used car. What selling this van means is driving it around the city and talking with people who have recently been diagnosed with ALS. Earlier this week it was an ex football player, in his early 40’s, who was diagnosed in December, whose primary interest was talking to a person who knew about ALS.

No, it is not at all like selling your everyday used vehicle. Just as purchasing it was not.

That must be really emotionally wrenching. Also found myself wondering…did Marty buy the van my friend Laura, had? Who did her van go to? Who had it before she did?

No, it wasn’t purchased from Laura’s family. Who knows who this particular van may have belonged to before the previous owner though.
