H.o.p. is packing

H.o.p. is packing. No, he hasn’t decided to run off. He wants to go on an airplane. I explained to him we aren’t going to be riding on any airplanes any time in the forseeable future.

“That’s all right. I want to be prepared.”

So he gets out one of his knapsacks and starts packing toys. His fake Godzilla toy (Wowa) and toothpaste and toothbrush. And his Neopet T Rex and a T Rex from Fernbank.

“Come on, mom, it’s time to go on the airplane!”

Oh. Relief. He’s decided to make one out of a box.

I tell H.o.p. I don’t ever plan to get on an airplane again. At least not unless under duress. I’ve been terrified of airplanes ever since I was in a near collision years ago. Was in a small plane and a large plane had been given the same heading. I don’t know how it escaped disaster. I have yes ridden in planes several times since then but as soon as I get off I always say I’ll never ride on a plane again. I hate it. I’ve managed to be able to avoid taking a plane anywhere for seven years.

He tells me what “Brainpop” has told him, that you’re much more likely to be in a car wreck than a plane accident. Yeah, I’ve heard all that too. I’d still rather be on the ground.

“I want to sit in a window seat!” he says.

H.o.p. prepares to board the plane. He’s going to go to China he says to see a Chinese Dragon.

Ah, then how sweet. When he’s done playing make believe he says what he really wants to do is ride a plane back to where my dad lives, and my mom lives, because it was a great place and he liked it there. And he wants to see the Grand Canyon again.

    Idyll,

I have not been here for awhile and I am sorry that I haven’t. I need to make this a daily visit.

Interesting that H.O.P. wants to take a plane ride, and I find it so sweet that he wants to return to the place where your parents live. I think he feels something different or sees something different in your face when you are with your parents.

I know my girls do and it is a positive thing.

So…tell H.O.P. that we are taking a plane next week. My youngest and I, are going west young man. No, we are not running out on the family. We are going to help my mother in a time of need.

    Be well!

I’m sorry to hear you’re having to take the trip in what sound like unfortunate circumstances, and hope things are better soon.

“I want to go with her!” H.o.p. says.

I don’t know about seeing anything different in my face. But it is of course different there. He likes my parents and enjoyed seeing where each of them lived…and they do each have neat homes that are very different from urban life here. Very Arizona with cactus. And Arizona is fantastic and quite different from here. Sigh. Now, I’m wishing I was there. Was a wonderful trip.

H.o.p. is going on about flying. “I want to relax and enjoy flying and I want to be on the window seat.” And he told me to say to you, “Love, Juli’s son, H.o.p.”

    Have a safe trip.

And love to you too Juli’s son, H.o.p. and Juli.

My daughter wanted to know the seat assignment too, after I spent 3 hours on the phone trying to find a flight that would work with everyone else’s schedule. Then the real fun began by transferring points/frequent flyer miles/sky miles/etc. to get these tickets.

But the good thing, we got the window seat and the middle seat. She also wanted to know if it was next to the wing, I assured it was not. She will have clear view of the sky and lands below.

    We will wave to you!
