Festival of Lights Season in Atlanta, 2012

Not so much going on in the way of festive lights out on the streets. But today we picked up a small Frazier Fir, and while it didn’t look all that fantastic in the tree lot (the people selling were nice and helpful), it turns out, once decorated, to be a wonderful tabletop tree for celebrating the upcoming winter solstice, filling the living room of the apartment with colorful light reflecting off baubles and paper snowflakes. Our fifteen-year-old son, as with the previous two years, took pride in decorating the tree himself (except for the lights), relying on us for encouragement and a steady stream of sugar cookies. As ever, he did a fantastic job.
He opted to sleep under its colorful lights tonight.
