This is a terrific cartoon. (I first mis-typed it as a terrific “catroon”, maybe because the red and white in the next-to-last frame reminds me of a cat’s tail. So maybe it can be a terrific catroon as well.)

I feel stupid. I’m still trying to figure out the point of the cartoon.

I can’t tell what the last three pics are. A blackhole? What’s the “zip” represent? I must be dull.

H.o.p. has the farms going down to the smallest particles (he left out quarks) after which he assumes there is something smaller still, an unknown, and then there’s the ZIP (his way of expressing a transition) and one enters through the realm of the apparent smallest into the realm of what seems to be the largest where you have a creature holding a galaxy. The next to last image is the creature holding a galaxy and the last image is that galaxy with the creature holding it (finger, fingernail).

Thanks! There’s a scene similar to that I believe in the first Men in Black movie where at the end it shows the earth and keeps expanding out until you see an alien creature pick up a little marble (earth) and place it in a sack with other marbles.

It appears that indeed the universe is infinately large and infinitely small and maybe a circular continuum.

h.o.p. you are a real observer. Thanks for this thoughtful tour through your large/small world. Great way to express your perspective.

Thank you everyone for commenting. I can’t wait to do more cartoons!

    Very cool, H.O.P.

It reminded me of nearly forty years ago when I was watching specks of dust float around in our house, wondering whether it was possible each speck of dust might be kind of like Earth, complete with populations of living creatures. And could Earth be a speck of dust to other living creatures? I must have thought about it a million times since then. Sometimes, when the sun lights up a dust particle or I’m far away from the city standing under a night sky with sparkling stars, I still think about it.

So you can see why I really like your cartoon.

    Well done.

Interesting comment Arvin because now that you mention it the cartoon brought back somewhat similar memories I had when I was 4-5 yrs. old watching snowflakes different times flying outside the window and the ‘other-worldly’ feeling or whatever it was I had while watching them. It is so fleeting when the memory comes it didn’t occur to me to mention it here till I saw your entry so thanks. Interesting that this comes to some children yet probably few ever express it. So more thanks to h.o.p. for doing just that.
