LCD after-image (grumble grumble hiss spit)

I’ve been creating troubles with my blog. As has my webhosting company again, the MySQL database going down a couple days in a row now.

If anyone drops by here who’s had troubles with burn in/after image on their LCD monitor, would be interested in hearing your fix. Found one website that advised creating a white gif and using that as a screen saver for at least several days to clean up the screen, but they say some monitors are irreparably damaged and can’t be fixed. I got this Dell monitor around last Christmas. It wasn’t exactly cheap, not terribly expensive either, but I read many many glowing recommendations on how great it was for graphics and I expected it to last a while. It began discoloring up at the top a little while back and now suddenly has some kind of gray bar after-image that’s nearly 3/4’s of an inch wide and two inches from the left frame of the screen, but none of these developments looks like a regular kind of after-image. So I’m not very hopeful about the white gif cleaning up. If it does, great. If it doesn’t then it’s come to the point I’m going to need to check with Dell and see if they can replace or repair, even if it means an extended time of not being able to use the computer.

I had never heard of LCD after-image until mine became discolored; had thought there was no such thing.
