I'm curious too, would you eat lab-grown meat? Would I?

Would you eat lab-grown meat that’s been walked around the block with electric shocks for exercise?

There’s an article today on this at Alternet. Would You Eat Lab-Grown Meat?. People are working on growing your meat course in the lab, saying it’s safer, more humane and non-polluting. Others wonder what the unintended consequences might be of messing with “our ecological heritage”.

I must not be a particularly creative thinker, because I have to admit that the idea of laboratory-grown steak had never occurred to me. And I’ve read, y’know, sci fi, though not much of it in the last dozen years.

Or maybe the idea was resident somewhere way back in my brain, tucked behind the old Tang commercials and Willy Wonka’s six course meal in a stick of chewing gum.

Is meat cultivation no different from brewing up yogurt and cheese, as is insisted by an individual in the article?

My brain’s first response was to storm an angry buffalo across the mind’s movie screen, shaking its giant wooly head no. I rarely have an opporrtunity to eat buffalo meat and still it was the first thing my brain popped out of the closet.

I can’t answer this question yet.
